"spontaneity doesn’t just happen"

That's what spontaneity is. I think the word you're looking for is happenstance. In an ideal world, everything could go your way by simply willing it; But unfortunately, this is not the case. Sometimes shit DOES happen.

Although wishing one's life away is a problem. You'll end up wondering what happened to all the good stuff going on in that moment that you wished away.

Cracking post. Wishing is easy. The Secret and the Law of Attraction have sold millions of copies on the process but we can all (day) dream. They also head for a final goal or ultimate prize ignoring any opportunities right in front of our nose. So spot on, take a step, one step and get going. Keep it simple from the start, hold an intention (not vision) and be prepared as life responds to your actions. Not rocket science!

Reminds me of how I refuse to be the old lady who on her death bed is grieving for the things she wanted to do but didnt do because she was always worried about what others would say or think. Also reminds me of the poem When I'm An Old Lady I Will Wear Purple and how the poem speaks of a red, spending pension money on brandy, summer gloves, satin sandals, sitting down on the pavement when tired, eating samples in shops and learning to spit.

Weird. I recently did a post similar to this, but with a different take. It was based on some advice a nursing home social worker gave to herself: "Don't ever wish away time." Consider my article a companion post :) Keep up the great work!
