I love soups! They are so simple and lovely and nourishing and yummy! (Oh yes, it only gets better with homemade bread, I so agree! I'm salivating now.) Great pictures and great recipes! I'll be saving these to my recipe collection and will try my hand at some!! Thank you for sharing...

These look so delish - thanks!
I posted my five faves recently... they may not adhere exactly to your 10 minutes/5 ingredients, but they're definitely quick and easy, including baked potato soup, sausage soup, and chicken and rice soup:

Thanks again! WIth these new recipes, we're good for another month of Soup Wednesdays. :)

brandee
great idea to use wheat berries and kale for the chicken soup. really glad you enjoyed it

and in answer to an email query about 'rashers of bacon' and tomato passata.

Rasher is just another word for a slice of bacon.

Tomato 'passata' is Italian for tomato puree which has been 'passed' through a sieve to remove any seeds. It hasn't been concentrated like tomato paste.

You should be able to find it labelled as 'Tomato Puree'. Otherwise you could substitute in some marinara sauce.

I did a spin on your chicken and couscous soup tonight, subbing wheat berries for the couscous (and had to let it cook for 45 minutes instead of 10), and kale for the spinach. It was AMAZING. I also added 2 cloves of garlic in the beginning, and seasoned with a bit of salt and pepper. THANKS

hey susanneS
baby spinach bags are about 5oz (150g) but it's really flexible how much you add

lillian
you're right - the beauty of the hot prawn soup is that it works for both warm and cold weather, thanks for sharing your chilli recipe. sounds delish

scattered mind
if only everyone were as flexible as you - some people think that 5 ingredients is 5 ingredients. great idea to serve the chilli at the table so people can add to their own taste. and completely agree that it's fun to make your own spice blends

thanks dan - homemade bread sounds great - lucky you

I wonder if I can work these in with the remainder of our grocery budget. They look fantastic and I've got the homemade bread already done.

'Lentils love spices so feel free to play around. Some fresh or dried chilli would make a lovely addition but would take us over my 5 ingredient limit.'

Oh come on Sherri. Garnishes don't count as ingredients! ;)

That's like saying salt or soy sauce is an ingredient.

Suggestion: Just leave the chil flakes / spice mix in a shaker on the table. And then while you're cooking you just toss in a bit of salt and a bit of spice mix - "BAM!"

I make my own spice mixes, dried herb mixes and dry rub mixes specifically for this reason. It's fun, it's customizable and it's fast. Way nicer than Mrs. Dash or Spike.
