Ask the Readers: Your Favorite Online Resources

Post written by Sherri Kruger. Follow me on Twitter.

The online world is vast. Think of anything and I’m pretty sure there’s already a website dedicated to it. There are sites dedicated to helping you be more productive and organized and sites that provide guidelines for whether or not we should eat the food in our fridge that has been there for over a week .

I get particularly excited when I find a real gem of a site that either makes my life easier, provides entertainment or is just plain useful.

So my question is: What are your favorite online resources?

I’m not talking only family related sites either. Feel free to list any little gem of a site you’ve found and get value from. This is a family site however so please be tasteful and respectful :)

Please share in the comments. There’s 5,600 of you … share those gems. :)

You will LOVE LOVE LOVE this one: http://www.thefind.com/
this is what their website had to say “Find every product from every store, every coupon, and every review. Everything you need to decide quickly what to buy and where to buy it.”

So basically I put in “butterfly” or “poppy” or specific product and it will go through all the online stores and provide instant thumbnails of products that are selling with those words.

You are only limited by your imagination!

A great movie rating web site. Rates movies according to how much sex/nudity, violence/gore, profanity, and substance use is in the movie, with detailed examples. Also concludes the rating with discussion topics and movie’s message. Our family always uses this site as a guide when picking out movies to see, and it’s FREE.

I highly recommend two sites:
One that makes me think and smile at the same time, and helps me be a better wife, daughter, and general contributor to the world:
http://lastyeartolive.wordpress.com/
Knowing that there are people in the world like Barbara, who hold themselves to high standards of engagement with their family, communities, and people around her, gives me great comfort, and courage.

I also delight in The Improvised Life. I love the resourcefulness they share, the recipes, and the general way of looking at the world with great pleasure in the smallest of details. Here’s a recent example:
