What’s there to be happy about? Simple, snow days, high-fiving babies, finding money in your pocket and so much more.
The Book of Awesome is written by Neil Pasricha, founder and author of the very popular blog 1000 Awesome Things. Everyday Neil adds a new Awesome thing to his list and is well on his way towards reaching his goal of a 1000.
This book had me literally laughing out loud from the moment I picked it up. The Book of Awesome is full of life’s simple pleasures that are often overlooked and perhaps never really even thought of.
What I think is so appealing about this book is it’s full of things we can all relate to. It’s not gushy or sickly sweet. Neil has a way of writing that is highly entertaining and will make you say to yourself “oh yeah! exactly!”
I love this book and I can’t recommend it enough. So, if you’re looking for a laugh or just need some help seeing the good in the everyday things we often overlook I hope you’ll give this book a shot.
The book of Awesome is on sale now at Amazon for only 11.69 and in my opinion, it’s worth every penny.

The most awesome thing to me.. wow I have a few things that come to mind. Since I can’t decide on the most awesome here are my top 3 most awesomes :)
- Freshly picked fruits, herbs or vegetables that I grew myself
- A cup of tea and a book
- Cooking with my husband
I teach online and can work from home two days per week of my choosing. There is nothing better than working from home on a Monday – don’t have to shower, get to dress in weekend clothes, and the kitchen is right next door :)
The most awesome thing for me is waking up everyday to noise, screams and crying, because when they grow up and this house is empty I will remember all of this and long for it all over again!! My kids are the most awesome boys in the world to me!!
Awesome for me right now is fresh asparagus in season. YUM! I’ve taken to tossing it with olive oil and salt and pepper and eating it raw. So tasty.
A clean house and fresh flowers on the dining room table.
The simple act of waking up beside my girlfriend while she still sleep so I can wake her up myself.
That’s a boost start to every morning.
Chillin with my kids, grandkids and hubby is the most awesome thing for me. Just hanging out nothing to do nowhere to be, just being!
When my 3 year old walks up to me and out of the blue says “Daddy, I love you”. Nothing could be better!
I think the smell of my grandfather’s 1950 Hudson when I sit in it is awesome!
When my best friends 3 year old walks up to me and says, “Um, Jen…I love you.”
We adopted our first daughter in January. In spite of the challenges inherent in adopting a 3-year-old from another country who doesn’t speak any English, I’m daily struck by how awesome it is that she’s so quickly become one of our family, and is learning so much so quickly!
The most awesome thing for me is helping my 3-year-old daughter learn how to read and seeing her light bulb turn on when she “gets it.”
The way honey slowly returns to the bottle when I stop squeezing …while I’m still holding it upside down. :)
The most awesom thing is that I seem to be overcoming my eternal lack of self-esteem.
I received a compliment from a client and instead of thinking what I could have done better, I just smiled.
I am learning. Awesome!
How fast children are able to forgive!
When my son hugs our dog and says “I love you, Scout”. It’s awesome that at not even 3 years old he has a bond like that.
Awesome thing for today: watching robins, blue jays, doves, and squirrels at the park. That and finding my favorite cookies on sale. :)
The awesome thing that happened to me today (so far) is when my 3 year old daughter replied to my “I love you” with “Love you, too, Mom”. The absolute BEST way to start any morning!
I find it awesome that no matter how much you love certain food, and no matter how hungry you are, adding the word hairy to it, makes you don’t want to eat at all; hairy hotdogs, hairy pizza etc..
My Wife!
the most awesome thing to me is just waking up in the morning…a new day for which to be thankful!
watching my kids give each other a kiss.
When you wake up in the middle of the night and look at the clock and realize you still have 2 more hours till you have to get up!
The most awesome thing to me is sitting with friends and laughing until it hurts.
the fact that grilling season has returned and we can cook out every night!
My daughter running up to give me a hug at the end of a hard day at work.
Listening to my six year old read to me at bedtime.
Just one thing?!
Taking a walk with My Life and…
we’re expecting twins in the fall!
The way my small son learns new words and new things every day is completely awesome to me.
Getting woken up abruptly at an ungodly hour for the tenth month in a row, stumbling in the dark towards your baby’s room, and banging your toe on the door jam could potentially make for a miserable experience… until you walk into that room, and the tears instantly transform into a heart-melting smile, arms reach expectantly for you, and the most wonderful voice sweetly says “Mama.” You pick your baby up, all your tiredness becomes worthwhile, and for a few moments, all is peace. This is AWESOME: awesome experience, awesome joy, awesome responsibility.
The smell of freshly baked bread in the house is pretty awesome!
I know this is so stinking corny, but I must say that love is awesome. It rocks the house.
My husband is most awesome to me :)
Being able to sit in comfortable silence with your family, knowing that words aren’t always necessary to feel loved & at home.
On the weekends, my seven-year old son crawls into bed with me when he first gets up. He’ll snuggle for about 10 minutes, then he will whisper “Mom, will you tickle me?”
the love of my kids and husband! its awesome! :)
See my daughters’ smiles and hearing their giggles
The most awesome thing for me is simply watching my 16 month old son learn and laugh. I just sit there and watch him and realise………yeah……I did that!
Most awesome will be to return home soon and bask in good Spring weather in California!
Awesome is three kiddos and a daddy playing with little goats….
Traveling to places I’ve never been before. :)
Snow days are awesome. My wife and I both teach so that means we and the kids get a free day home together! Close second – personal days – me by myself.
When I’m inside working and I can hear my 4 year old daughters laughing and shreiking while they’re playing outside with their dad.
The most awesome thing in the world is snuggling and loving on my 2yo twin boys. They are amazing!
Wow.. this one is difficult.
But definitely this one is worth it: the absolute feeling of inner peace by looking at your kids (I have 2 boys, ages 2 and 6), seeing them healthy, happy, funny and playing. Contemplating their sweet innocence and sensing that I’ve achieved something great in life. The kind of sense that I would carry forever if I’d disappear at that moment, feeling complete, realized, happy, meaningful and good with life. Anybody here who’s a father or mother knows this feeling, and it’s awesome.
Thanks, regards.

Each year we rent a different beach house in Florida. I think it is totally amazing that each year the house we rent seems perfect……even though we always think that we won’t be able to beat the one we had the year before.
Jesus is most awesome!
Group hugs with my 3 kids :)
a warm fluffy towel after a cold shower
Building Igloo with my son :-)
It’s awesome when, in a random moment, I suddenly realize that I’m happy.
I have a driven work ethic balanced by joyful playfulness
Thee are so many awsome things in my life right now. One is spenidng time with my family.
Schools with the name like ‘Silver Sands School for Exceptional Children” in North Florida. The 169 exceptional students at this school I substitute taught at were aged 3-22 and were all mild to severly handicapped or disabled. The administration, staff, and children were all greatful and happy to be in school every day that I was there. The littlest joys and things we take for granted brought the biggest smiles to everyone’s faces. I will never forget their awesomeness.
The most awesome thing to me is a tiny baby sleeping on my chest. There is nothing better than that.
The most awesome thing is my family filling up a whole row at church, and knowing that my children and grandchildren are there because one couple fell in love and stayed that way.
Most awesome to me is listening to my son start to use phrases or sayings that I’m known for using.
life. it is an incredibly awesome gift that i, that we, all too often take for granted.
I’ve been completely blown away watching my little one’s teeth grow. I know that sounds silly, maybe even weird. But one day he’s all gums, the next day there’s a little white and then out of nowhere there’s a tooth!! AWESOME! :)
A baby’s smile. It’s a simple as that.
Babies are SO in touch with their inner being, their true self. The smile of a baby is straight from the heart and soul. It acts as a balm on every heart and soul who sees it.
A truly awesome moment to meet the eyes of a baby and receive their smile.
My son’s little hand in mine as I walk him to and from kindergarten each and every day.
the wandering imagination of a 2 year old.
Fresh veggies from the garden.
playing don’t spill the beans with my son and I always seem to lose and he laughs like it’s the funniest, craziest thing he has ever witnessed!!
Couple of things that are incredibly, utterly awesome:
The pure joy in my children’s laughs;
A moment of happiness that is so pure and sweet that it takes your breath away (realizing that it is a gorgeous sunshine-filled day after a long, gray winter; realizing that my children and my husband are healthy and that it’s all that I need)
Awesome is falling asleep long enough to have a cool dream that I can ponder over during our multiple late night feedings.
My awesome thing for today was when my 2 year old son pretended he did not want to kiss me goodbye this morning and then literally chased me to the door so he could give me a big hug, a big kiss and tell me that he loved me.
Covered up with a blanket with my sons on the couch watching Saturday morning cartoons
warm spring rain… sunny days… open windows… playing outside… ballet… my teenager’s laugh… newly scrubbed floors… minimal “stuff”… unschooling…
So many things to choose from….. Three of my current favorites lately: accidentally waking up three hours before I was supposed to and going back to sleep, hearing my three-year-old son sing all the time, and the fact that water, salt, flour, and yeast can make something as delicious as homemade ciabatta bread.
When that feeling of warm contentment washes over you and you realize you are exactly where your supposed be in life..awesome
The most awesome thing is being able to truly experience your children and creating a time capsule for them for the future of how they were when the world was a new and big place.
feeling better after you’ve been sick
the smell after it rains
the sound while it rains
indoor plumbing
Easiest question ever to answer. My almost 10-year-old daughter is the most awesome thing I’ve ever seen. This book sounds interesting!
Corinna
The most awesome thing to me is watching my 15 month old really wrap his mouth around sounds and letters even thou i don’t understand what he is saying most of the time he is playing with letters and “words” more and more daily finding them for himself…awesome!
These days……nursing my sweet baby girl to sleep every night.
Most awesome are belly laughs from my three kids and when they give me hugs and mash their little faces into my neck.
The sound of pajama-clad 2-year-old feet padding into my room in the morning.
The shell and wire necklace that one daughter made for the other with things she found in the woods.
Winning one free book contest is awesome. Winning a two free books in a row is so awesome it’s indescribable.
There are many things in life that are awesome. I suppose one of my favorites is appreciating my body for what it is and what it does for me. Everyday someone comments badly about their body or what they hate about it or being on their diet…I just silently think to myself that I’m grateful that I have a body that works and allows me to experience the things I do everyday (the good and the bad). I am just happy to BE and LIVE. Another favorite is my family; knowing that I love them, they love me, we both know these two facts, and that they’re still there for me everyday and beyond.
The most awesome thing for me is hugs and kisses from my kids, especially since they are 6 and 7 now and can actually choose whether they want to show affection or not. :)
Living in the moment is awesome. I just watched my cat Eve drag a hot pink My Little Pony around the living room by it’s mane. Then stop to groom it like a kitten. After this ritual pony loving she jumped in my lap for kisses, snuggles, and paw holding. I love you Eve!
Interesting book… im from, Buenos Aires, Argentina… is there any chance i can get the signed copy?
Anyhow, my 3 awesome moments:
-some days ago I saw a baby (10-12 months) smiling to a homeless.
-i love discovering new spots in my neighbourhood such as a very old drugstore, or a new bakery.
-i love it when i find something new in an old photograph
Awesome? A free afternoon with my two sons, when none of us has anything to do or anywhere to go. When we can let loose, hang out, reconnect and play.
Having my 13 year-old son come up and hug me for no reason at all.
That brilliant, light-up-the-world smile I get from my baby the minute I walk through the door from work. That’s awesome!
My daughter turning 7 this Saturday = Awesome
Cuddling with my girls ( 8 & 5) at bedtime reading.
A hot cup of coffee and a quiet house @ 5 am.
The most awesome thing in my life is waking each morning, taking that first breath and realizing I have another day, another opportunity to be the me I want to be.
With my wife’s mighty strength and patience of pushing our little baby Girl Zara Lily from her tummy!
Now that was awesome!
The most awesome thing in my life is my alarm clock who doubles as my two year old son. He wakes me up every morning with “helllooooooo mommmyyyy”
Awesome is…the sweet smell of my daughter when I snuggle up to her
AWESOME is the freedom to serve Christ everyday!
My wife is awesome!
This reminds me of a post I did last week about 10 foods that really make me happy!
One of them is sticky rice with mango. That, my friends, is a truly AWESOME dish.
Very awsome moment for me this morning . I work as as aestetician and today I was touched by an old lady telling me how many years younger she felt when I had finished her facial. Really starts the day on a good note.
There’s so much in this world that is awesome and even if you are presented with something that seems to be less than awesome, if you look hard enough, you’ll find something to be grateful for. Another thing that’s awesome is having co-workers who, even during periods of adversity, take the time to tell each other they are awesome! Validation is so important!
Awesome…………
awe!
some!
“Awe” is the beach at low tide in the early morning before the world wakes and my dog and I have it all to oursleves.
“Some” place!
THIS IS AN AWESOME BOOK (as depected in the title) i think that the most awesome thing in this whole world is bouncing a silly putty ball on a giant sheet of mini bubble wrap!!
The most awesome thing to me was becoming a mother. Just recently my 22 year old daughter wrote the most amazing report about a personal experience for her journalism class. The moment she chose – her mother helping her to overcome a “paralyzing shyness”. About the same time my 21 year old son sent me the most beautiful birthday card about what a mother means and wrote at the end that “he would not have sent this if he didn’t believe every word”! The most awesome thing about being a mother – it just keeps getting better and better!
When you give God an ultimatum of the count of 10, standing with a handful of pills in your hand, and on the count of 3 a friend who means the world, yet has been very out of touch and disconnected with your life, texts and says “for some reason you are really heavy on my heart…so I wanted to reach out in some positive way and didn’t know what that would be other than to let you know.”
The most awesome thing to me is life itself and all the great things to experience and learn and to unconditionally love all. Also seeing someone smile and knowing i put it there! :-)
when you realized that good has blessed you
